Service Description

Join Harvey and Kerri for a morning exploring the relationship between movement and breath. Through yoga, kriyas and pranayama, this workshop invites you to experience how conscious breathing can influence your physical practice and the way you respond to everyday life. Pranayama is often translated as “breath control”, though its meaning extends far beyond breathing exercises alone. Derived from the Sanskrit words prana, meaning vital life force or energy, and ayama, meaning to expand or extend, pranayama is the practice of working consciously with the breath to cultivate greater awareness and regulation of body and mind. For thousands of years, it has formed an integral part of the yogic tradition, valued for its physiological effects and its ability to prepare the practitioner for deeper states of concentration and meditation. For many people, pranayama offers a more accessible entry point into meditation. Rather than asking the mind to become still, the breath provides a clear point of focus, allowing attention to settle with greater ease. Throughout the morning, Harvey and Kerri will guide you through an integrated practice of yoga, kriyas and pranayama. Kriyas are traditional yogic cleansing techniques designed to help clear physical and energetic blockages, preparing the body and mind to receive the full benefits of breathwork and meditation. Kerri explores pranayama as a practice that connects the physical and contemplative dimensions of yoga. During the workshop she will introduce these teachings in an accessible way, combining classical yoga philosophy with practical experience to help participants develop a more meaningful relationship with the breath. Harvey will then guide you through a thoughtfully sequenced yoga practice, exploring how movement and breath work in partnership. Drawing on the principles of Vinyasa and Hatha yoga, the practice will offer the opportunity to embody the morning’s teachings, using breath as a tool to cultivate steadiness and ease within movement. Suitable for all levels of experience. To gain the greatest benefit from the kriyas and pranayama practices, we recommend arriving with an empty stomach or leaving at least two to three hours after a meal before attending the workshop, we also reccomend no caffeine before, so the nervous system feels truly settled.
